Malachi: Waiting for the Sunrise

Amos: God's Just Judgment on Unjust People (Amos 8)

Listen to this week's sermon as we continue our series on The Minor Prophets. The book of Amos has been quoted frequently in American politics and been used as a manifesto of "social justice." But is that what this prophet is all about? Pastor Robb goes through the book of Amos in this sermon, focusing especially on Amos 8, to show how this book speaks not to social justice, but to a higher level of justice, the kind of justice we really need, and the kind of justice that required a perfect sacrifice.

As believers, we are sometimes caught up in darkness that this world brings.  Sicknesses in our bodies, sorrows at our jobs, and sufferings in our families, we soon forget that we are to be lights in the world.  We begin living day by day and revel in the muck and mire of lives seemingly lost to the forces of this world.  Spiritual weariness sets in and we start to ask:  where is my joy?  Where is my peace?  Where is God in all this?  As Pastor Robb concludes his sermon series on the Minor Prophets, he comes to the book of Malachi where we are reminded that there are promises that will give recovery to the mind, rest to the soul, and refreshment to the spirit.  These promises come with the Sunrise.
