This week we celebrate the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther’s 95 theses that he nailed to the door in an attempt to hold the church accountable for its abuse of its parishioners. Those 95 theses speaking out against the practice of indulgences in the church sparked the flame of the Protestant Reformation, which affected the majority of the known world.
The important subjects of the Reformation cover the authority of scripture (sola scriptura), being saved through faith alone (sola fide), being saved by grace alone (sola gratia), our salvation being in Christ alone (sola Christus), and living for the glory of God alone (soli Deo gloria). Reflect on these truths in God’s word. How has God used these truths to minister to your heart?
