Biblical Church Leadership: Elders, Part 6 (1 Timothy 3:4-7)
Powered by Series Engine
As Pastor Robb continues his sermon series on 1 Timothy, we must consider how men who are leading the church are to be upheld by God’s standards. Church leadership is not a routine political position to be sought. It is a burden that comes from a calling and desire to serve God. Eldership is not a call to power or lordship authority over others. Elders must be the kind of men who have a high moral character. Church leadership can attract people with mixed motives such as pride or other sinful motives. The spiritual leadership of an elder can be measured by how well the man leads his family. But there are other qualifications to remind us of the man God demands to lead His church. To hear about these qualifications, please listen to this evening’s sermon by Pastor Robb. We must understand that the standard here for elders is extraordinarily high, but so are God’s standard for His church.
